Is it just me or do the years seem to be getting shorter? 2008 already!
Of course, John made the first BOB entry for the year. I guess since his house is almost done, we’ll have to rz there and drink all his beer.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if eventually that was what the BOB did … had a reunion in different parts of the country to celebrate still being alive. Maybe that would be better done when most of us are really retired, instead of just out of the Air Force.
James and Lynn have been on my mind since James’ father passed away. I know from the experience of my mother’s passing in 2000 that you’re never really prepared for that sort of thing. Fortunately time helps heal the sorrow. Now, seven years later, I seldom find myself welling up over her memories.
I’m working as a SAIC contractor; a training manager for the 608 AOC. It is nice to get a paycheck. It helps fund things like my daughter moving into LSUS campus housing.
A budget that still has money left over at the end of the month is a nice thing to see. My savings account dried up about the time I got this job, so that was very good timing, I don’t hear that giant sucking sound coming from the credit union anymore.
I wish I had great news to share about my book, God willing, maybe next month will be more revealing.
We had three active duty officers join our ranks since our last 11th: Steve, Ted, and Yak. Maybe we can pry the latest gossip out of them. If we do, remember that the BOB Blog is active on the Internet, thus people we don’t know or worse yet – we do know can read what we write. The power we have over them is that we can write. That is good indeed.
Doctrine Trivia Question of the Month
“It is a doctrine of war not to assume the enemy will not come, but rather to rely on one’s readiness to meet him; not to presume that he will not attack, but rather to make one’s self invincible.”
a. Napoleon
b. Clausewitz
c. Sun Tzu
d. Jomini
Bonus points if you can explain the concept.
You can put your answer in your post or as a comment to this post.
Here’s to wishing you all the best year of all the years ever with 2008.

I am finally back in business and able to log in! Here is the e-mail I sent yesterday.
Hey Guys,
sorry for the silence! Have beeen trying to log into the blog and for some reason it won’t let me. Chuck has been great in resetting my password all the time, but who knows why it doesn’t like me!
Anyway, I actually got to see Sherry for quite a bit this past holiday. She was down in Jacksonville and Atlanta for work so I took some time off and spent it with her. Had to do a few commutes from Jacksonville to work (leaving around 3 in the AM) when I couldn’t take the time off, but it was worth it. She will be be back here in a few weeks so that will be great.
Mom came to SC for Christmas and New year’s and we had a great time. She looked for condos to buy or rent and will move here sometime next year. It will be nice to have her nearby again. Maybe our famly will be in one place finally!
The house is coming along pretty well and we are decorating slowly, piece by piece. Too damn expensive to do all at once!! I did get the Flat screen in place and an air hockey table, so at least the neighbors and I can have beer and have some fun. Eventually we are going to make the game room a bar with all the accessories, but that will have to wait a few months!
Looking forward to going back to work tomnorrow. Being off is fine, but it is easy to get lazy! The new semester starts next week sometime, so we get a whole new batch of cadets. Should be interesting as usual!
Glad Ted and Steve have become part of the group. You can never have enough great guys. We used to have such fun in CFIC!!
Alright my friends, have a great New year and hope to hear from you when you get a chance!!
JB
